Corporate History

1994 Ion Optics founded with US Department of Energy contract to develop miniature infrared light source for atmospheric monitoring.

1996 Commercial launch of pulsIR product line of broadband, pulsed, infrared emitters for use in commercial gas sensors.

1997 Company moved from Bedford, MA to Waltham, MA to provide for expanding production of pulsIR.

1998 Laboratory feasibility demonstration of Photonic Crystal technology for spectrally tuned infrared emission/absorption.

1999 Awarded prestigious Advanced Technology Program by National Institutes of Standards and Technology to develop gas sensors based on Photonic Crystal technology.

1999 Commercial launch of reflectIR product line featuring reflective optics for collimation of broadband emitters.

2000 Venture capital investment by Ardesta to pursue further development and commercialization of photonic crystal gas sensors.

2002 Venture capital investment by Digital Power Corporation to finance additional product and market development.

2005 Ion Optics purchased by ICx technologies to bring complimentary gas sensing technologies into its suite of homeland security offerings.

2006 Sensorchip-CO2 gas sensor product launched for commercial gas sensing applications.

2007 Ion Optics renamed ICx Photonics and moved to expanded R&D and manufacturing facility in Billerica, MA.

2007 Sensorchip-CO2-4P gas sensor module launched for industrial safety applications.
