ICX TECHNOLOGIES RELEASES REVOLUTIONARY CO2 4P SENSOR

Billerica, MA – May 22, 2007 – ICx Photonics, a business unit of ICx Technologies, today announced the availability of its CO24P with SensorChip, a groundbreaking new technology for CO2 detection. The CO24P, the first Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based CO2 gas sensor module in the industrial gas sensing arena, integrates advanced infrared sensor technology within a 4P housing. The module contains all of the electronics and optics required to accurately measure CO2 in a variety of industrial applications.

“As the first MEMS based product of its kind, the CO24P eliminates a number of challenges associated with some legacy gas sensing technologies – without raising the price tag,” said Keith Fallon, Director of Industrial Sales for ICx Photonics. “With technology that is intrinsically safe, has low power consumption allowing for extended use and optimal gas selectivity and sensitivity, the CO24P holds enormous potential for the industry.”

Beyond its application within the industrial safety market, the CO24P is suitable for any CO2 sensing application where a 4P form factor is desirable and an OEM module is required. Unlike pellistors and other traditional gas sensing technologies, the CO24P has a sealed sensor using infrared measurement, and is therefore immune to the effects of ageing and hysteresis. Additionally, the product’s patented spectral tuning capability allows for wavelength specificity for IR emission and absorption, making the sensor highly gas specific and power efficient.

ICx Photonics, formerly ICx Ion Optics, is a leading provider of advanced infrared photonic crystal devices that permit IR emission and absorption to be spectrally defined. These devices have been successfully integrated into NDIR gas sensing systems as well as IR beacons and markers for defense and identification applications. The CO24P complements the company’s line of high power IR light sources, MEMS gas sensors, and MEMS based gas specific IR light sources. It is one of several gas sensors and modules expected to be released by ICx Photonics in coming months.
